Sara Bareilles will play the lead role in “Waitress” on Broadway for the third time this winter.

Bareilles, the composer of “Waitress,” will star as Jenna from Jan. 7, 2019 until Feb. 3. Gavin Creel, a Tony Award winner for his performance in last season’s “Hello, Dolly!” will play opposite Bareilles as Dr. Pomatter for the same time period.

Bareilles also played the role last winter, starring opposite Jason Mraz. She made her Broadway debut in the role in 2017, for a limited engagement beginning in March of that year.

“Waitress” is entering into its third year on Broadway, after opening at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on April 24, 2016.

“I can’t think of anything I would rather do to kick off this incredible milestone year than return to my favorite place on earth next to the one and only Gavin Creel,” Bareilles said in the press release.

The musical also has a running national tour and a planned London run this spring, starring Katharine McPhee, who also played the role on Broadway.
