“Torch Song” is ending its limited run on Broadway on Jan. 6, a little more than a month earlier than scheduled.

Directed by Moisés Kaufman and written by Harvey Fierstein, the revival opened at the Hayes Theater on Nov. 1 and was originally slated to run until Feb. 24. Though the theater is owned by the non-profit company Second Stage, this was a commercial run produced by Richie Jackson.

Star Michael Urie will lead a national tour launching in the fall of 2019 and beginning at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles.

The play hit its highest gross in the week ended Nov. 11, reaching $290,585, or 45% of its gross potential. Last week, the play brought in $220,459, or 34 percent of its gross potential.

As of Jan. 6, “Torch Song” will have played 26 preview performances and 77 regular performances.

Second Stage has not yet announced the next tenant for its Broadway theater.
