As he accepted the fifth, and most important, Creative Emmy award for “Jesus Christ Superstar” last Sunday, executive producer Neil Meron said, “This is for Craig. Craig Zadan’s mission was to make the musical [as popular an art form as] film and TV, and tonight he’s acknowledged for achieving that goal.”

His voice choked with emotion, Meron saluted his partner of over four decades and, raising the statuette they had won for Outstanding Variety Special (Live), added, “Craig would have loved this.”
