An all-female version of “Glengarry Glen Ross” is coming to Broadway in May 2019.
The David Mamet play will be directed by Amy Morton. The creative team, cast and Broadway theater will be announced at a later time.
The producing team is led by Jeffrey Richards, Will Trice, Rebecca Gold and Steve Traxler.
This is the first Broadway directing credit for Morton, who is a member and director at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, and has appeared as an actor on Broadway. Her most recent New York Stage directing credit was for “Guards at the Taj,” which opened at the Atlantic Theater Company in 2015.
“Glengarry Glen Ross” premiered on the West End in 1983, and then transferred to Broadway in 1984, the same year “Glengarry Glen Ross” won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It had two subsequent Broadway revivals, in 2005 and in 2012, as well as a film released in 1992.
Richards was the lead producer on the previous two revivals.
The play centers on a real estate office, where four salespeople ruthlessly compete to sell the highest number of properties.
