‘Escape to Margaritaville’ to play final performance on July 1

“Escape to Margaritaville” will play its final performance on July 1, after 29 preview and 124 regular performances. The musical, which was produced by Frank Marshall, Mindy Rich, Anita Waxman, and Beth Williams, opened at the Marquis Theatre on March 15.

“Escape to Margaritaville” will play its final performance on July 1, after 29 preview and 124 regular performances.

The musical, which was produced by Frank Marshall, Mindy Rich, Anita Waxman, and Beth Williams, opened at the Marquis Theatre on March 15. The show, which featured the songs of Jimmy Buffett, had seen weak grosses after receiving tepid reviews and after failing to receive any Tony nominations.

“Escape to Margaritaville” hit its highest gross of $801,326 in the week ended April 8, but most recently fell to $578,330 in the week ended May 27.

It features a book by Greg Garcia and Mike O’Malley, choreography by Kelly Devine and direction by Christopher Ashley.

“Escape to Margaritaville,” has a national tour scheduled for October 2019, beginning in Providence, Rhode Island. The cast will also perform alongside Buffett on the PBS special “A Capitol Fourth,” a few days after closing.
