“The Play That Goes Wrong” will close on August 26 after playing 585 regular performances and 27 preview performances.

After closing, the play will launch a national tour beginning in Pittsburgh in September. The play, produced by Kevin McCollum, J.J. Abrams and Kenny Wax, is the longest-running play currently on Broadway.

Casting and additional dates and cities for the tour will be announced at a later date.

“The Play That Goes Wrong” opened on April 2, 2017 at the Lyceum Theatre and received a a Tony Award for Best Set Design.

The producers had attributed the play’s sustainability to its slapstick humor and multi-generational appeal. However, the show’s grosses have been on a bit of a roller coaster recently, falling to $241,751 in the week ended May 6.

As of November, McCollum told Broadway News the play was more than 50% recouped and making distributions as it ran.
