“Beautiful” has a new Carole King.

Melissa Benoist, who currently stars as the title character in the TV show “Supergirl,” will take on the role beginning June 7 through Aug. 4, 2018, producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing announced Monday. After Benoist’s run, Chilina Kennedy, who is currently playing King, will return to the role.

This is the Broadway debut for Benoist, who also previously played a recurring role on the television show “Glee.”

“Carole’s music was a mainstay in my household growing up, like it was for so many people,” Benoist said. “It will be an honor and a pleasure to sing her music and portray her inspiring resilience to audiences every night.”

The musical, which features a a book by Douglas McGrath, direction by Marc Bruni and choreography by Josh Prince, is in its fifth year at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. It also has a U.S. national tour, in addition to productions in Japan, Australia and a tour in the United Kingdom. The West End show recently closed.
