“Jesus Christ Superstar” will launch a North American tour of the Regent Park Open Air Theatre production in fall 2019.

Produced by Stephen Gabriel, the tour comes after a West End production of the show in 2016 and 2017, which was directed by Timothy Sheader and choreographed by Drew McOnie. The tour announcement comes on the heels of the NBC live musical broadcast of “Jesus Christ Superstar” on April 1.

“This production pays tribute to the historic 1971 Billboard Album of the Year while creating a modern, theatrical world that is uniquely fresh and inspiring,” Gabriel, president of Work Light Productions, said in the press release.

Tom Scutt is providing the set and costume design, with lighting design by Lee Curran and music supervision by Tom Deering.
