M. Butterfly will fly away from Broadway even earlier than expected.
The recent revival of David Henry Hwang’s Tony Award-winning drama will play its final performance at the Cort Theatre on Sun., Dec. 17, 2017. The show had previously announced an early closing date of Jan. 14, 2018.
At closing, M. Butterfly will have played for 19 previews and 61 regular performances.
M. Butterfly made 41% of its gross potential last week at the box office, 43% the week ended Dec. 3, and 40% over the week of Thanksgiving.
The production opened on Oct. 26, 2017 starring Clive Owen and newcomer Jin Ha, and was directed by Tony Award-winner Julie Taymor.
