The current Broadway staging of David Mamet’s “Glengarry Glen Ross” has recouped its investment, producers announced on May 13. According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the production was initially capitalized at $7.5 million.
Directed by Tony and Olivier Award winner Patrick Marber, the production began performances at the Palace Theatre on March 31 and will continue its strictly limited run through June 28.
In addition to reaching recoupment, the play grossed $2.4 million for the week ending May 11, setting a new house record at the Palace Theatre.
This announcement marks the sixth play opening in the 2024-2025 season to reveal recoupment; “Good Night, and Good Luck,” “Othello,” “All In: Comedy About Love,” “Romeo + Juliet” and “Oh, Mary!” made back their initial investments. Notably, the most recent revival of the play, presented in 2012, also recouped.
“Glengarry” stars Oscar and Emmy winner Kieran Culkin, Emmy winner and 2025 Tony Award Nominee Bob Odenkirk, Emmy and Grammy nominee Bill Burr, Grammy winner and Oscar nominee Michael McKean, Donald Webber Jr., Howard W. Overshown and John Pirruccello.
The design team includes production design by Scott Pask and lighting design by Jen Schriever. Casting is by the Telsey Office, Will Cantler and Destiny Lilly. The production stage manager is Barclay Stiff.
