The upcoming Broadway premiere of “Stereophonic” has changed the date of its initial preview. The David Adjmi play will now begin on April 2, one day earlier than originally announced. A transfer from a 2023 Off-Broadway run at Playwrights Horizons, the play will open on April 19 at the John Golden Theatre, for a limited run through July 7.

All seats for the April 2 preview will be $40.

“When I was a small boy, my mother took me to Broadway shows every other week,” said Adjmi in a statement. “She could afford to do this only because theater was so much less expensive back then. And those shows changed my life. In this spirit, we are excited to offer $40 preview tickets to ‘Stereophonic.’ I am thrilled to be able to share our show with as many theatergoers as possible.”

Directed by Daniel Aukin and featuring music by Will Butler, “Stereophonic” is set in a 1970s recording studio where a rock group records their sophomore album.

“Stereophonic” is being produced by Sue Wagner, John Johnson, Seaview, Sonia Friedman Productions, Linden Productions and Ashley Melone & Nick Mills.
