Christina Alexander has been named the Director of Social Responsibility for the Broadway, London, and national touring productions of “Wicked.”

The new role was formed to support the creation of a more inclusive environment both onstage and off. Alexander will work with labor unions and production partners to develop new hiring procedures and anti-harassment policies for the workplace. These initiatives will aim to enhance access to casting and hiring for candidates from underrepresented groups.

Additionally, she will consult on how to expand the production’s outreach and increase the diversity of audiences. She will also work with not-for-profit partners Equal Justice Initiative, V-Day and The Trevor Project.

Alexander comes to the role after years of working as an inclusivity consultant both in and out of the theater industry. In 2019, the Theatre Communications Group included her in their Rising Leaders of Color program.

“An inclusive, thoughtful, welcoming theatre is a place that I, and others in the industry, have dreamed of. For many, it has not been that place. I am honored to bring my EDIAB skills, as well as knowledge and love of the industry, to Wicked – and to focus on the business of turning ideas into actions,” said Alexander in a press release.
