Nominations have been announced for the 77th annual Tony Awards, honoring Broadway productions that opened during the 2023-2024 season. Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Renée Elise Goldsberry revealed this year’s nominees on April 30 on CBS Mornings.

As previously announced, the Tony Awards ceremony, hosted by Tony nominee Ariana DeBose, will take place on June 16 at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater. The ceremony will be broadcast on CBS and Paramount+ beginning at 8 p.m. ET. “Tony Awards: Act One,” a special pre-show including the presentation of several awards, will stream live on Pluto TV.

In order to be eligible for nominations, productions had to open by April 25. Thirty-six productions were eligible.

“Hell’s Kitchen” and “Stereophonic” lead the pack with 13 nominations each, including a nod for Best Musical and Best Play, respectively. The musical adaptation of “The Outsiders” is close behind, tallying 12 nominations.

Five shows were nominated for Best Musical: “Hell’s Kitchen,” “Illinoise,” “The Outsiders,” “Suffs” and “Water for Elephants.” Five productions were nominated for Best Play: “Jaja’s African Hair Braiding,” “Mary Jane,” “Mother Play,” “Prayer for the French Republic” and “Stereophonic.” A full list of nominations is below.

Of the 36 eligible productions, eight received zero nominations: “Harmony,” “How to Dance in Ohio,” “I Need That,” “Once Upon a One More Time,” “The Cottage,” “The Heart of Rock and Roll,” “The Shark Is Broken” and “The Wiz.”
